Not so simple

Lets remember. The vast majority of folks at USA Swimming are good and decent people. This issue is way to complex to blaim a single person, or group of people. If anyone is to blame, lets focus on the criminals who have abused young swimmers.

Long lasting impact

I am really concerned for the sport. This will have a long lasting impact that we are not even considering right now. I recognize that there is no single person or governing body at fault, but the lack of action by so many people is really frustrating. Like every complicated issue, this one will not easily be resolved. A first good step would be for swimming to acknowlege that there is in fact a problem. I saw the quote that it is really no worse than other parts of society. That's false logic. It is still bad, and most be fixed.

I am concerned as a coach about the ability to do my job.

I am concerned as a partent for my kids safety

I am concerned about the children who have already been abused.

I am concerned about the sport of swimming and it's ability to remain the best place for kids to grow.
