Dolphin Kicks on Freestyle walls

It seems like everyone is doing 3 or more dolphin kicks off of every wall in freestyle now days.  I do not have a very good kick, and when I try it, the transition to swimming freestyle is really awkward.  Is this technique good for everyone, or is it ok for some of us to stick with freestyle kicking off the wall?

Do what works for you, but improve your skills

Do whatever works best for you in the race, but continually strive to expand your skills and abilities.  Nobody is a natural dolphin kicker the first time they do it, so it should come as no surprise that it might not be faster for you right away.  If you are continually improving your skills, you will make sure you don't miss out on the opportunity to be faster if you end up being pretty good at dolphin kick.
