Slow and steady so far. On Tuesday I broke the 5000 yard barrier for the first time, and man was I tired. I discovered we have a new super star swimmer on the Masters team. She just graduated from college, and is fired up about swimming. Before joining us she competed at NCAA’s, Olympic trials, etc. It was such a pleasure talking to her before practice the other day. As described in previous postings, I was grumpy and miserable about being at the pool. She was fired up and knew the pool was the place to be. She has goals, focus, and commitment. I hope it will rub off on me! In my defense I graduated 10 years ago, but honestly she destroyed me in the pool. It was great. An inspiration if you will.
Anyway, her goal is to compete at Senior Nationals this year. From what I can tell, she is going to crush it. My goal (starting today) is to keep up in practice. I think it will take a month or so, but I will make it!
On Wednesday I challenged our youngster to lap me in a 400. If it was a 425, she would have done it!
If this superstar gets her stroke analyzed by The Athlete Village, I am really in trouble!
