Summer Swimming is coming to an end

Tags:

Little SwimmerSummer, at least in the world of swimming, is coming to an end.  The USA Senior National Championships ended last week, summer league swim season is finishing up, and triathletes are preparing for their last races of the year.  This is a great time to reflect on where you are, where you are going, and how you are going to get there.  A few things to think about in the off season.

1) The details make the difference.  Championship swimmers work on the details, and they never stop.  Think about your stroke, your training, your diet, your life.  Think about some small changes that might make a big difference.  (Here comes a shameless plug) Why not get your stroke Analyzed by some of the best coaches in the world?  Upload your video today!

2) Don't keep doing the same thing, over and over again.  If you get in and swim 10 x 100's on the 1:30 every day, and hold the same pace every time...guess what...you will keep going that speed.  Next time try them on the 1:25 or lower your average pace.

3) Did you hit a road block?  Get back up and keep going.  They say the most common reason that diets fail (and quitting smoking, and changing almost any habit) is what happens when we hit a road block.  Have you ever said, "well I ate poorly all weekend, what's one more donut?"  It's not too late.  It's never too late.  Put the donut down!

Tactics and Techniques of Elite Open Water Swimmers

You may remember that The Athlete village was live on the scene at the 2010 USA Open Water National Championships.  We rode along on the head referee boat and caught some incredible, never before seen, video of open water swimmers in the heat of the battle.

This raw video was so compelling, we have produced a first ever DVD from the event.  The Athlete Village and Steven Munatones describe open water swimming technique, strategies, and training with a methodology that is easy to understand and implement.  Most swimming resources look at swimmers in a pool or a controlled environment.  Highly choreographed DVDs may be pretty to look at, but often miss the essence of the sport.

"This DVD inserts you directly into the race, immersing you into never before action - at times brutal, at times thrilling, but never dull."

The DVD will begin shipping on or around August 31, 2010.  You can pre-order your copy now for only $19.95 (25% off the retail price).  There are a limited number of pre-order DVD’s available, so get yours now!
