Abi Liu has had a distinguished swimming career in the pool, and now as a coach and Expert Swim Analyst at The Athlete Village.

As a swimmer:

• Professional swimmer for the Chinese national team, 1989-1996
• Two times National Champion in backstroke events, 1990 & 1991
• Winner of the FINA World Cup in 200 meter backstroke, 1993
• Ranked 9th in the World in 200 meter backstroke, 1993
• National record holder of 200 meter backstroke, 1993
• Silver medalist of the Asia Games in 200 meter backstroke, 1999
• Winner of the Big West Championships, 1998 & 1999

As a coach:

• Pacific swimming Age group coach of the year, 2008
  • Coached U.S National age group record holders
  • Coached more than 40 swimmers ranked in the top 16 in the nation
  • Trained winners of the Western Zone Championships
  • Coached winners of Outstanding Swimmers' award of Pacific Swimming
